I’ve been on quite the CHOCOHOLIC kick lately, and after seeing this recipe everywhere… and I mean everywhere… I took it as a sign that I needed to try it. And, after locating 4 different versions of the same recipe in my stack of recipes, I knew that I must have had this thought before. But, how good can a 3-ingredient truffle recipe be?
1 pkg. (1 lb. 2 oz. size) Oreo cookies, crushed finely
1 pkg. (8 ounces) cream cheese, softened
2 square (8 ounces each) Baker’s Semisweet Chocolate, melted
Combine 3 cups Oreo cookie crumbs (crush in a food processor or in a plastic bag with rolling pin) with cream cheese and blend well. Using a small scoop, form 1 inch balls and place on a wax paper covered cookie sheet. You may need to set them in a fridge to chill a bit.
Dip balls in melted chocolate and return to wax paper covered sheet. If desired, top with reserved cookie crumbs for garnish. Chill again in fridge to set. Store in tightly sealed container in a cool place.
My notes: It’s very hot in the valley right now (112 degrees on Sunday) so I resorted to placing these in the freezer before and after dipping and it really helped. I used a chocolate candy coating in lieu of the chocolate and it was great, but I’m sure real chocolate is better and easier to work with (the coating is kind of thick and hard to dip). Even though women are the true chocolate lovers, I’ve found that men cannot resist these. 🙂
