Ryan and I had a simple, lazy and relaxing weekend. There isn’t much to tell, but I thought I would update anyhow.
On Friday, we had date night, and drove up to Fresno to have dinner at Claim Jumpers. We’d been craving the Chocolate Chip Calzone for weeks. It was delicious, as usual, as well as everything else we had. After that we were stuffed and we headed to the movies to see Ice Age 3. It was great and a nice escape from the hot summer night.
We slept in a bit on Saturday and awoke to the slight chaos of the harvest of our grape vineyard. I should have taken photos but just didn’t have the energy. They picked all day Saturday and returned again this morning to finish. Ryan and I picked a bunch of grapes before the harvest and we can tell they are going to be very good once again. We tasted the late harvest grapes last fall when I moved into the house in October. They were amazing!
Needing to escape that “fishbowl” feeling with close to 40 people wandering our property, we got in the car and headed for the hills. I have been wanting to expose Ryan to the magic of Reimer’s Ice Cream for a very long time. It’s a long drive, but very worth it. Of course, I am probably the only person I know that would drive 58 miles for ice cream.
Ryan said it was good but I have a sneaking suspicion that he doesn’t quite feel as enthusiastic about it as I do. Regardless, it was well worth if for me and I enjoyed the heck out of my Roasted Almond Toffee ice cream in a freshly made waffle cone. MMMMMMmmmmmm!
We ran some errands in Visalia after that, but the heat was starting to get to us so we headed home. We spent the rest of the weekend getting some much needed rest and escaping from the heat. We’re thankful that temperatures are starting to drop and look like they will stay below the triple digit mark for at least a week.
We can hardly believe it’s already August!!!
