Spring has sprung…or has started to spring up in the valley and it is hard to believe. I saw the delicate buds of the nectarine trees across the road start to pop up just after the rain a few weeks ago and I thought it was nearly impossible. But I suppose they are right on time, because I remember them popping up what felt like too early last year as well. And, I’m sure the large and unexpected amounts of rainfall have helped tremendously.

I headed out there with the dog and a camera 2 weekends ago and got a few amazing shots… it’s taken me several days to sort through and edit them. There are few things more beautiful than these nectarine blossoms in the spring. It was one of the first things that made me start to love the valley when I moved almost 9 years ago and it’s one of the scenes that I will miss when we move into Visalia. Though, since we will be at the edge of town as it is now, we might still get to take in the sight? ** crossing my fingers **

Initially I was a bit terrified when I heard the load hum of bees in the orchard. They were everywhere! Though I tried to stay calm, as bees kind of freak me out, I will admit to some loud gasps, and lots of holding my breath and sweating. I got some breathtaking shots, if I do say so… I almost screamed when I downloaded them from the camera…

Of course, Jackson couldn’t resist a little mischievous gopher hunting while I snapped away. What a nerd. I love it to watch him freeze on a spot in the ground, suddenly dig ferociously, then stop, stick his entire head in the ground and smell and listen, and then duck out and repeat the process all over again.

I don’t love when I repeatedly call and shout his name to get him to look at me so I can snap a shot at his dirty face and he does that tricky little look-out-of-the-corner-of-his-eye thing. Stubborn little mutt.

Haha! Gotcha!
