Though I knew a surprise was coming this Easter, I sure didn’t know what it was. Ryan started talking about this surprise weeks ago and was just dying to tell me. I knew that we were headed somewhere, would leave Saturday afternoon and would not return until Sunday. I also knew to dress casual. That’s about it.
We headed out on Saturday after Ryan got home from work and headed north. After driving for a couple of hours, we headed into Sacramento and stopped at In-N-Out to eat… something we seem to do on EVERY road trip we take. It’s become kind of a ritual. I wasn’t really paying attention to my surroundings, and finally noticed where we were as the building practically smacked me in the face…
For those of you who have no idea what that means….
It’s the home of the Sacramento Kings NBA team… Ryan favorite basketball team… and my first NBA game. Though the surprise was initially for me… I think Ryan’s smile was even bigger than mine.
Though I don’t blame him. We had some pretty amazing seats!!! The players were so close! We could hear them talking! They were the best seats I’ve had at ANY sporting event I’ve ever been to. Just a few rows from court-side!
We even got to sit behind my very favorite announcers.
The white haired guy is my absolute favorite! This guy has an affinity for cliches, word games and silly puns… (Beno Draino! Tyreke is Ty-Riffic! The Brock-ness monster!). I love it and hate it at the same time. I was dying to ask him to get a photo together but I knew he’d think I was a psycho. So we just sat back and enjoyed the game.
The game was great, though, the Kings did lose. They’ve been on a pretty nasty losing streak. We still had a great time and can’t wait to come to a game next season.
After that, we headed up to Willows to spend Easter with the Corums. We had such a nice time but regretted that it was less than a full day. They treated us to wonderful food, a sweet Easter basket full of treats, and great company.
We were gone just over 24 hours when we had to make the trip back home… in the pouring rain!!!(The only bummer part of the whole weekend).
It rained hard almost the entire trip, which was exhausting and stressful, especially for Ryan, who always ends up doing all the driving. I need to be better about that. 😦 It was good to be home when we finally got there… collapsed and exhausted.
We’re looking forward to spending a little more time with family when we return for Mother’s Day. Until then… what a nice surprise weekend!
