What a wonderful weekend! This is the first time in a long time that I can say the weekend actually felt longer than an eye-blink.
We kicked off the weekend on Friday night with an unplanned but really fun date night. We headed down to the Visalia Convention Center to check out an amazing guitarist by the name of Andy McKee who was playing to benefit the Tulare County Suicide Prevention Task Force, a cause very close to my heart as I’ve lost two friends to suicide since graduating high school. Andy is an intensely talented acoustic artist that you have to check out. We really enjoyed it. My pics don’t do it justice (stupid iPhone) but you’ve got to check out his videos on YouTube. Insane!
After that we headed down to Crawdaddy’s to escape the crazy wind and grab some food. Even though the restaurant has been around for a few years, we had never got around to trying it, partially because of lackluster reviews and it’s somewhat “rowdy” nighttime reputation. We were very pleasantly surprised – the food was delicious, the wait staff was great, the music was cool and the ambiance was fun. We will definitely go back sometime soon.
We were still feeling “date-ish” so we decided to head across the street and watch a movie. We decided on Date Night and absolutely loved it. Steve Carell and Tina Fey are a great team. There were so many great lines!
Hilarious! And, actually full of some great and realistic portrayals of marriage and family life. We’ll be buying that one on DVD.
On Saturday morning we slept in (glorious), had some cinnamon streusel muffins (yummy) and spent most of the day cleaning, packing and getting ready for the big move (blah, but exciting!). It was a “GET STUFF DONE” kind of day.
On Sunday, we headed down to Visalia to check out the final progress on the house… which looks SOOOO good and SOOOO close to being done. I can’t believe it’s just a little over 2 weeks away. We can hardly wait. We had some preparation to do so we ran around town most of the afternoon, checking out home improvement stores and stuff, adding things to our wish list, and purchasing a new refrigerator.
This week should probably bring our final walk thru and the official setting of the close date, which we hope sticks to the original plan. It’s hard to not be really antsy right now, but God is good and we know that in just a couple of short weeks, we’ll be in our Home Sweet Home and enjoying what has taken 8 months to become a reality. 🙂
