As I am nearing the end of my second trimester (already?!) with Baby Deux, there has been a flurry of activity in our house in trying to prepare for baby, finish up many overdue house projects and generally do some spring/summer cleaning and planning. If my pregnancy with Little C is any indicator, my energy level and mobility will soon plummet to dangerously low levels, so I am trying to do what I can right now. This includes one of my favorite parts of pregnancy planning – designing and decorating Baby Deux’s nursery. This one threw me for a loop a bit as, even though I sort of expected this baby to be another boy based on gut feelings, I had really started designing a girl’s nursery in my head… and it was adorable. But that was not meant to be, as the technician announced to us, “Looks like a little baby brother for your son…” I sort of had a mental “Doh! But I don’t have a plan B (B for BOY!)” moment in my head… or a name for that matter (and still don’t). And yes, I do have stronger priorities for baby than a nursery design, in case you were wondering. 😉

After a few hours spent perusing Pinterest and Etsy and some fun with color palettes, I was able to gather some great ideas and a fun concept. Though I don’t want to reveal the full design at this point as it’s a huge work in progress, I did want to give a little sneak peak…

Nursery Sneak Peak

Nursery formula: Mommy and Daddy’s love of blue + sun, moon, stars, clouds and sky + fun color and contrast!

One of my favorite pieces and a piece that I’ve built the entire room around is the adorable sign from Kristen of Spunky Fluff on Etsy:

You Are My Sunshine

I just about died when I saw it and HAD to have it. It is the perfect addition to the room and a great pop of the canary yellow color I wanted to use. I’ve been singing this song to Little C since he was born and will likely do the same with Baby Deux.

Kristen makes all sorts of adorable signs in her shop for every room in your home, and offers the ability to chose your color from 16 different shades. They even come with the hardware needed to hang them. How cute are these signs?!

Kristen, like myself, had been slogging away in the corporate world before the opportunity (and love) came her way to leave it all behind and pursue art school and a creative business (how jealous/inspired am I?!). Now for the fun part… Kristen has been kind enough to donate this adorable sign as a giveaway to one of my lovely blog readers:

You Are my Sunshine Giveaway!

This is my very first giveaway on the blog and I’m super excited! To enter just leave a comment on this post and tell me what you are doing for fun this summer (so I can live vicariously through you!). I will use to select a winner at the end of July. And of course, liking and following my blog would just make me feel all warm and fuzzy. 🙂

But the fun doesn’t end there! Kristen has extended a coupon just for the readers of Just Another Family Blog. You can take 20% off of any order at Spunky Fluff from now until the end of July, using the code JAFB2014. How awesome is that?!

I hope everyone is having a great summer! I can’t wait to announce the giveaway winner and finally share the nursery tour. Stay cool everyone!

While I would love free stuff and love to share that my summer is filled with splendid things for you to live vicariously through…I am 30 weeks preggo and experiencing the plummeting energy level already. Baby #3 (boy) is wiggling up a storm so my summer will be spent thinking of him and taking care of Drake and Emie while Jason works from home. Honestly this is my hearts desire for the summer, to pour into my children and bless my husband by letting him focus on providing for our family. And so we play tractors, pretend kitchen extravaganzas, dig in the sandbox, run through the sprinklers, watch numerous Netflix shows, read, and sing lots of preschool type songs it is perfect in its own way.

Keep lovingly preparing in every which way for Baby Deux because motherhood just keeps getting better!
